Physical Description
Structure: A flat, heavy metal bar equipped with three sharp downward-facing spikes or notches.
Function: Ground staff place the bar on the crease line and press down so the spikes punch exact, evenly distributed guide holes into the turf. The wooden stumps are then inserted into these holes.
Materials: Commonly manufactured from rugged, durable cast iron, alloy steel, or zinc-plated steel to endure hard-packed soils without bending. Some modern variations are made from heavy-duty acrylic.
